April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and piano classes, which ignited her interest in music writing. When she was in seventh grade April started taking guitar and piano lessons. This ignited her interest in writing songs. In her 14th year, April devoted much of her time to creating and playing with songs. After a while, she began traveling with her father and to write songs either in NY or LA. April started to include other subjects in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled in the face of peer pressure, disability or suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing following as a lifestyle influencer as well as a spokesperson for the popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. She was born without her left hand and that is part of her story, but it's hardly her whole story. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on it. What message is it sending? We all have multiple aspects and that we are all unique and that we're much beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart tells Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance is what defines my character. My goal is not to have an impact on disability because I have so much more to offer." This doesn't influence my day-to-day life. I go about the same way as I always do and have found different ways of adapting. Since it's a my identity and something worth talking about. Her journey to self-acceptance will be one that lasts for a long time, and she can be a role model with regard to this. Yet, she confesses to going through periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes with arms. She can wear whatever she likes, and happily shares pictures of her wearing these clothes. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's hard to say when you'll reach the end. It's the same for everybody regardless of the level of insecurity. I believe having friends with you who are aware of you and know your feelings is crucial because they'll be the people who will remind you what you worried about?
