Jennifer Garner was born on 17 April 1972 at Houston, Texas but was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. Her father, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local university. In the hopes of following the footsteps of her father and earn an education in chemical engineering. Since she wanted to be an actress she went into New York. She worked as a chef in an eatery in New York and was a part of Broadway productions. Her cameo was in the show "Felicity." (It was on this show that she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) Garner made her debut in Alias, an action thriller. Her first big part was in the acclaimed romantic comedy 13 Going on 30. In it she played the teenager trapped inside a 30years old body. Garner chose Gary Winick, who directed the movie. They worked together in pursuing other projects even after his death. Garner, who was designated as an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. during 2009, had a key role in the organization. This role entails national literacy and nutrition, as well as early education and various other aspects. Garner was a member as the group's president since 2014, has been an advocate for the cause of early learning. She is an ambassador of the Early Steps to School Success Program. She coaches parents on the best ways to aid their children's learning.
